MUSIC ICONOGRAPHY

The word 'iconogrpahy' when used with a certain genre should trigger nostalgia. This is because it is everything that is iconic to something. Therefore when you say what is the iconography for an indie rock band, you would instantly think dark colours and dark lighting. The iconography is everything that makes the song, band or video memorable and therefore it must conform to the iconic 'things' that you would relate when thinking of that genre. This is cruicial when appealing to your target market as most people are afraid of the unknown, therefore if you created a video for a rock band in bright green swimming shorts on a beach singing a song, however there was no sound, the chances are even if you are a fan of rock music you are not going to relate the tow together as that setting and props and costuming is not iconic to that genre and your target audience are more than likely to dissaprove as it does not trigger nostalgia.
