WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?

Audience feedback is vital in ensuring we make the best product that will impress the target audience.  If we did not gain any feedback from the target audience, we would not know what needed to be improved in order to make our product attractive to the chosen target audeience.  When the rough cut was being filmed, we only briefly knew what we wanted out of the filming, which meant the rought cut was not our best work and the video was not the best it could be.  After our rougth cut was put together it became obvious that we did not gain enough footage when filming and our camera skills were not evident enough to produce a good quality video.

After we showed the rough cut to our media peers, it became clear from the feedback that a serious amount of work needed to put in, in order to achieve the video we desired.   Some of their feedback is below.  We took this feedback very seriously and aimed to improve everything that was a common comment on the feedback sheets.

General Feedback

Despite getting positive comments for the rough cut, the negative comments outweighed the positive and they were aspects that needed serious consideration and re-planning.  We developed an action plan baased on the feedback received for the rough cut and that helped us to produce a much more effective final cut.

Some of the most drastic changes from the rough cut to the final cut were:

  • Changed both the drummer and bass player as this would help our video be more enthusiastic and realistic

  • Ensured we got enough footage by filming several times more than rough cut

  • Ensured we constantly moved the camera around the artists and instruments

  • During editing we ensured we listened to the beat and tempo carefully to make the cuts more in time

  • Changeed the ending to be more dramatic which is something other videos in our genre do

In order to get feedback from peers, I videoed 5 peoples responses of 6 different questions.  These 6 questions were:

1.) What was your favourite part of the video?

2.) What do you think of the editing in comparison to the pace of the song?

3.) Do you think the video sutis the genre?

4.) What is your opinion on the camera movement?

5.) Do you think the video works as just a band performance?

6.) Any suggestions for further improvement?

I posted the video on Facebook and asked for feedback on the video and managed to get 2 replies from students who had previously done media for A-level, these were helpful in figuring out what we had learnt as well.  Their responses are below.

So what did we actually learn?  See prezi below.
